Within this tradition, emphasis is on the interaction of economies of scale, inputoutput relations and markets in creating economic agglomerations. The models associated with this tradition have, however, several limitations. From a conceptual perspective, these models extend the formal mathematical modelling of early location theory to develop equilibrium solutions to new maximization problems.
